Our 5th addition to our Runway Collection is an extraordinary Yirgacheffe G1.

General

This Yirgacheffe coffee is sourced from Lalesa, a town in Ethiopia's renowned Yirgacheffe region. It comes from the Microlot estate, located at an impressive elevation of 2,046 meters. This batch features the JARC 74110 and JARC 74112 varieties, giving it a high-grade G1 classification. Harvested between November and January, the coffee undergoes natural processing, achieving an outstanding cupping score of 88.

Demise Wote grows coffee on his 6.5-hectare farm in Lalesa, Yirgacheffe, at an impressivly high elevation of 2,046 meters. This altitude provides ideal conditions for specialty coffee cultivation, with warm days and cool nights that enhance the coffee's sweetness and density. The cooler climate also reduces pest and disease presence. Each year, Demise produces around 8,200 kg of natural coffee for export.

Cultivation

In addition to coffee, Demise cultivates enset (false banana), kidney beans, and various fruit. The kidney beans enrich the soil with nitrogen, benefiting the coffee plants, while the fruit trees provide essential shade.

Harvest & Post-Harvest

Demise handpicks only ripe, red cherries and processes them on his farm. The cherries are laid on raised drying beds for sun drying, with hourly turns for even drying, a process that takes about 14 days. After drying, the cherries rest in a farm warehouse for four months before being transported to the dry mill for export preparation.

Look for delightful notes of apple, peach, and black tea, as this Yirgacheffe offers a complex and flavorful experience for any specialty coffee lover.
