V60 brew guide - our guide to your perfect pour-over

Equipment needed:

  • V60 dripper
  • V60 paper filter
  • Coffee grinder
  • Kettle
  • Digital scale
  • Timer
  • Freshly roasted coffee beans

Ingredients:

  • 15g of freshly ground coffee (ratio = 1:16.6)
  • 250g of water (plus additional for rinsing the filter)

Instructions:

  1. Grind 15g of coffee beans to a medium-coarse consistency. It should roughly look like sea salt.

  2. Place the filter in your V60 and place it on your brewing vessel. Rinse the paper filter with hot water to remove any paper taste and to preheat the brewer and vessel.

  3. Heat 250g water to approx. 93°C. If you haven't got a fancy kettle, just let it rest for approx. 30 seconds after boiling.

  4. Add 15g of freshly grinded coffee to you V60, and create a small well in the middle of the coffee grounds.

  5. Start the timer and pour about 50g water over the coffee grounds. Give it a gentle swirl. Allow it to bloom for approx. 30 seconds.

  6. Pour water in until you hit 100g water on the scale. Pour slowly in a circular motion. Give it another gentle swirl.

  7. Around 1 minute. Pour with a steady flow rate until you reach 250g water. Give it a few swirls clockwise, and then a few counter clockwise.

  8. Allow the water to drip through the grounds until the stream slows to a few drops. The total brew time should be approximately 3:00-3:30 minutes. Grind finer if it's quicker. Grind more coarse if it's slower.

  9. Carefully remove the V60 dripper, swirl the coffee in the mug, and serve. Enjoy!

Feel free to adjust the coffee-to-water ratio, grind size, and pouring technique to suit your taste preferences.

Happy brewing!
