Cafetière brew guide - easy start to your slow morning

Cafetière brew guide (French Press)

Equipment needed:

  1. Cafetière (French press)
  2. Coffee grinder
  3. Digital scale
  4. Timer
  5. Freshly roasted coffee beans

Ingredients:

  • 30g of coarsely ground coffee (ratio = 1:15)
  • 450g of water + a bit extra for preheat

Instructions:

  1. Heat 450g of water to just off boiling, 93°C. If you haven't got a fancy kettle, just let it rest for 30seconds after boiling.

  2. Grind 30g coffee beans to a coarse setting.

  3. Pour a small amount of hot water into the French press to preheat it. Swirl the hot water around and then discard it.

  4. Place the French press on the scale and add the coarsely ground coffee.

  5. Start the timer and pour all 450g hot water over the coffee grounds.

  6. Use a spoon or paddle to gently stir the coffee and water mixture, ensuring all the grounds are fully saturated.

  7. Let the coffee steep for 4 minutes.

  8. After 4 minutes, carefully brake the surface with a spoon and let the coffee fall to the bottom. Remove the remaining foam with a spoon.

  9. At 4 minutes 30 seconds slowly press down the plunger of the French press to separate the coffee grounds from the brewed coffee. Apply gentle and steady pressure.

  10. Savor the rich and flavorful coffee! Adjust the coffee-to-water ratio and steeping time to suit your taste preferences.

Happy brewing!
