Cafetière brew guide (French Press)
Equipment needed:
- Cafetière (French press)
- Coffee grinder
- Digital scale
- Timer
- Freshly roasted coffee beans
Ingredients:
- 30g of coarsely ground coffee (ratio = 1:15)
- 450g of water + a bit extra for preheat
Instructions:
-
Heat 450g of water to just off boiling, 93°C. If you haven't got a fancy kettle, just let it rest for 30seconds after boiling.
-
Grind 30g coffee beans to a coarse setting.
-
Pour a small amount of hot water into the French press to preheat it. Swirl the hot water around and then discard it.
-
Place the French press on the scale and add the coarsely ground coffee.
-
Start the timer and pour all 450g hot water over the coffee grounds.
-
Use a spoon or paddle to gently stir the coffee and water mixture, ensuring all the grounds are fully saturated.
-
Let the coffee steep for 4 minutes.
-
After 4 minutes, carefully brake the surface with a spoon and let the coffee fall to the bottom. Remove the remaining foam with a spoon.
-
At 4 minutes 30 seconds slowly press down the plunger of the French press to separate the coffee grounds from the brewed coffee. Apply gentle and steady pressure.
-
Savor the rich and flavorful coffee! Adjust the coffee-to-water ratio and steeping time to suit your taste preferences.
Happy brewing!
